stuck on decoupage

after spending a weekend of wardrobe rearranging spurred by rewatching absolutely fabulous’ eddie claim that she had ‘battery clothes’ in her closet and the war with coat hangers i have every time i try to extract some item of clothing enough was enough. and rummaging around in the dark recesses of my closet I unearthed a collection of old memory boxes. my finds harked back to schooldays: crafting of decoupage, each piece a montage of vivid flashbacks. also remembering how relaxing I used to find it and having stores of magazines needing to be recycled why not try it again… now I have two things in common with marie antoinette, not the greatly misunderstood woman part but an apparent love of decoupage and shoes…
so I started off small again, covering a few old kitchen trays which I was tired of… and then onto furniture… I managed to get a great venice chair in the sale, of which I love the twenties art deco sunburst style back. the wood of the chair had already been scratched hence it’s bargain sale price. so for once whatever domestic goddess chose to do would be an improvement and rescuing a vintage classic design. the results…it’s a work in progress (no legs yet) but so far the gluing is going well and as I don’t have to use super glue which I have obviously had several mishaps with (you know gluing my fingers, hands together, becoming attached to the thing you are trying to glue: everyone does that right?) decoupage is a breeze…
tastes change a little though I’ no longer cutting out teenage heart throbs but adore going through interior design mags…but I also realised that no one can escape the eighties and the chair looks great with this vintage throwback pink polka dot bag listed on pinkmilkvintage…
legs coming soon…
